The Forest Economics and Policy division

 

The main objective of the Forest Economics and Policy division or Ecopol division is the development of human ressources on the economical and political aspects of forestry.It provides theoretical and practical training to the future forestry specialists. In addition to its training activities, the Division carries out research activities of which main goals are the improvement and the updating of forest economics and policy information. At last, the Division is ensuring scientific and technical tuition of thesis and memoirs, as well as research and action programs.

Training activities

The Ecopol division is in charge of the following courses:

  • At the 2nd level (3rd-5th year students): forest legislation and economy , forest production system , research methodology, forest administration, micro-economics, forest resource valorization, tropical wood international trade, ecotourism, forest policy, project conception, socio-economics.
  • At the 3rd level (Masters' program): research methodology, forest resource valorization, forest politics, stategy and planning.
    At the 2nd level, the Division also coordinates the courses for the following items: planning methodology, bank and trade operations, marketing, production system analysis. The Division is moreover responsible of the master's and Ph.D. in forestry program, that includes the following tasks: coordination of the training sessions, administrative organisation of public presentations, scientific and technical tuition of the students.

Activities in the Mandraka site

Ecopol has many responsibilities in the Mandraka site, such as the ecotourism program supervision, development planning of surrounding region, support to fund raising for the site, institutional relationship with the Forestry Ministry.


Research activities

Research activities of the Ecopol division include:

  • fundamental research in forestry policy and market analysis
  • applied research throughout the tuition of engineer memoirs
  • support research by external institutions mandates in the fields of forestry economy and policy

Inter-institutional collaboration

As a collaborator of the Forestry Ministry, Ecopol is supporting the forestry fiscality and the 2020 forest prospective studies. It takes also part to the regular meetings of the Ministry's partners which are organized by the Secrétariat Multi-Bailleurs (SMB). Finally, in cooperation with the National Office of Environment, ECOPOL participates to the working groups of biodiversity specialists, as it ensues the Amman's conference
