The main objectives of the Sylviculture and Forest Management division or
Sylva are the improvement and the reinforcement of research in its fields of
activity.
Training activities
The Sylva division teaches the following courses
- at the 2nd level (3rd
to 5th year students): forestry, afforestation, agroforestry, forest genetics,
remote sensing, dendrometry, forest inventory, natural resource and landscape
management
- at the 3rd level: natural resource and landscape management
Research activities
The Sylva division assumes research activities than can be classified in
fundamental research (mostly on forest species) and applied research (on a range
of topics, such as lavakas dynamics). Research issues can also be defined by
thesis and memoirs topics, within the next subjects: sylviculture, agroforestry,
forest genetics, natural resource management and remote sensing.
Mandates
The Sylva Division receives mandates for the formulation of plans for forest
management, woody or non woody resource. In order to elaborate those management
plans are ue various tools such as geographic information systems, forest
